Allergic Food & Inhalation Panel (40) Test in Kathmandu
Same Day turnaround at Peoples Diagnostics Laboratory & Clinic, Sanobharang. Walk in 7AMโ8PM, or pre-book via WhatsApp.
About this test
This panel screens for allergen-specific IgE antibodies against roughly forty of the commonest triggers in a single serum sample, divided into two groups: inhaled (aeroallergen) triggers such as house-dust mite, pollens from grasses, trees and weeds, mould spores, cockroach, and animal dander from cats and dogs; and food triggers such as cow's milk, egg, wheat, soya, peanut and tree nuts, fish, shellfish, and sesame. When the immune system is sensitised to a substance, it produces IgE directed at that specific allergen, and measuring these antibodies helps confirm what your body is reacting to rather than guessing. A doctor typically orders it when symptoms point to an allergic cause but the culprit is unclear โ persistent sneezing, a blocked or runny nose and itchy watering eyes (allergic rhinitis), recurrent wheeze or asthma that worsens in particular seasons, chronic urticaria (hives), eczema, or reactions after meals ranging from mouth tingling and stomach upset to swelling. In the Kathmandu Valley, where winter dust, vehicle pollution, indoor dust-mite loads and spring tree-and-grass pollen are heavy, inhalant sensitisation is especially common. Results are read as a graded level for each allergen and must be interpreted alongside your history, because a raised IgE shows sensitisation, not always clinical allergy โ some people test positive yet tolerate the food. It is useful for planning avoidance, deciding on antihistamines or inhalers, and identifying candidates for immunotherapy, and it spares you the discomfort and medication restrictions of skin testing.
