Inhalation Allergen Panel (20) Test in Kathmandu
Same Day turnaround at Peoples Diagnostics Laboratory & Clinic, Sanobharang. Walk in 7AMโ8PM, or pre-book via WhatsApp.
About this test
This panel measures allergen-specific IgE antibodies in your blood against twenty common airborne (inhaled) triggers in a single draw โ typically house-dust mites, several grass, tree and weed pollens, mould spores such as Aspergillus and Alternaria, animal danders from cats and dogs, and cockroach. When you breathe in something your immune system has been sensitised to, these IgE antibodies set off the sneezing, blocked or runny nose, itchy watery eyes, throat irritation and wheeze that define allergic rhinitis and allergic asthma. A doctor usually orders it when symptoms are persistent, seasonal or clearly worse in certain places, when over-the-counter remedies are not enough, or when an inhaler is being prescribed for asthma and the underlying trigger needs identifying. Unlike a skin-prick test, the blood version is safe during a flare-up, in young children, in pregnancy, and in people with eczema or those who cannot stop their antihistamines. In the Kathmandu Valley, where winter dust, brick-kiln and vehicle pollution, damp indoor walls that favour mould, and abundant house-dust mites all coincide, inhalant allergy is extremely common and frequently mistaken for recurring colds or sinus infection. Results are reported for each allergen as a graded level rather than a simple positive or negative, and must always be interpreted alongside your actual symptom history โ a raised IgE only confirms sensitisation, while your doctor decides whether that allergen is genuinely driving your illness. Identifying the specific culprit allows targeted avoidance, more effective medication, and, where appropriate, consideration of allergen immunotherapy.
